Tricky pictures on the web

Yesterday, I was looking for an article to write about on my blog. What I found really interesting on Yahoo news was that most of the articles that were on front page had eye-catching images, that looked so pretty and Photoshop. the images would definitely have viewers click on the article news. When I clicked on two of the articles the images had nothing to do with what the article what talking about. For example, one of the articles on the front page of Yahoo had a picture of different types of spaghetti and  macaroni, but when I clicked on the article it talked about all this other kind of healthy food.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

The latest news the media is giving a lot of coverage is to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s illegitimate child. Today on CNN his news was front page. Many news channels have also been covering this news as well. It is known that Arnold had a child for ten years with a servant working for him, and recently his wife and family just found out. I can see why the media is giving this issue so much coverage because he is a famous celebrity and also the governor of Los Angeles. As a celebrity I don’t think this is a big deal for his image, however as a governor I do find this disturbing. If he can’t be loyal to his wife im not so sure if he should be allowed to govern a state. As the governor he should at least not have a bad image like this, because I will definitely not vote for him.

Kim Kardashian vs Britney Spears

The eye-catching news of the week for me was finding the media coverage of Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears matching Herve Leger dresses. I saw an image on Kim’s blog on Facebook, where she uploaded pictures of them in the same dress. Furthermore, later when I was serving the net, I saw this on the front page of Yahoo News. On her blog Kim left a comment stating, “Brittany looked fab” in the dress. The article on Yahoo News quoted Kim’s words and stated at the bottom Kim was just trying to be nice. Both celebrities wore the dress on different days and at separate events. Kim wore the dress at an event in Miami on friday night, while Britney wore it at Wango Tango in Los Angeles, on Saturday night. I find this interesting how the media is making it a big deal if both the girls had the same dress. Just because they’re celebrities and people look up to them for fashion tips, when two famous people have the same outfits the media always makes news out of it by criticising who wore it better. Even though I find this news very unnecessary, I personally believe Kim Kardashian wore the dress better.

The following is an article from stylist.com covering this news http://www.stylelist.com/2011/05/16/britney-spears-kim-kardashian-herve-leger-dress-photos-poll/

Bin Ladens Widows

After the death of Osama Bin Laden, the media is covering every aspect of his life. Until his death no one really was bothered about his family or who his wives were. I was surprised to see this news on the front page of LA Times.com and CNN.com. The media seems to be trying to give out every little information they know the audience is inquisitive about. The news on yahoo, gave a description and brief background about each wife. The eye-catching part  on this news were the pictures. Both sources had a passport picture, of a muslim woman in a headscarf. this woman is Bin Laden’s one-off many wifes. the picture definitely caught my attention and made me click on the full story.

Bin Laden Dead

The breaking news right now is the death of Osama Bin Laden. Bin Laden was the mastermind behind the terrorist attacks in New York, on September 11, 2001. and many other terrorist attacks on America and Worldwide. The media is leaving no attempt in covering every aspect of the news because it is a huge moment for all Americans. The whole nation is now uniting together to join the celebration of his death. Almost 11 years  later our country feels avenged for what we lost on 9/11. A clipping on CNN shows American’s in joy outside the White House. A few moments after the breaking news everyone was waiting for President Obama’s speech on this news. Turns out Obama had already known about this news before everyone and had a well prepared speech for it as well. After all the media can’t have so much power to be the first about every news, there are many possibilities that are a lot of news that reach’s the media late or never gets in the hands of the media. The problematic part about this is, that no matter how the media may portray some news, but when it doesn’t reach to them or is hidden from them it takes away from the rights of citizens to know about certain stuff.  However, it is definitely understood that such news was delayed to give to the media due to security reasons.

Driving down Santa Monica Blvd, I saw a couple bilboards. There were three bilboards of DiJion. Dijion is a famous designer. He designed A Bugatti car, and designed suits for the president and other celebrities. I find this interesting because I never see bilboards of him in the palms area or around midcity. This fact that it’s in the are between Santa Monica Blvd and westwood, implies the type of audience that it tries to attract are wealthy people. That are is upperclass and many of the buildings there are big corporations.

Another facsinating news I found in the media this week was the royal wedding. They covered every part of the wedding, from the clothes to the food and decorations. On yahoo’s front page they had several slides of the wedding and in the end they had a slide of a disaster that took place in another country. Its sad to know many people would be more interested in knowing about the wedding than to learn about a disaster.

Lindsay Lohan

All over the news is Lindsay Lohan. The media is keeping up with Lohan’s case. Lohan is accused of stealing a diamond necklace from a jewelry store. The prosecutors want her to pay for the charges, while others want it to end with time in jail. The next court hearing will tell what her punishment is. Its interesting how the media wouldn’t cover such news if it was for an ordinary person, but since it’s Lindsay Lohan the audience is even more interested, because of how famous she is. Another more interesting part about this news is the media describes what the celebrity wears to court, “The “Mean Girls” star arrived at the courthouse wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, blue trousers and a scarf”. It can be implied that such news is more for entertaining the readers than to report about her crime. In my opinion the media encourages people to do such things by the amount off coverage they give such news, and the tone in wish it is reported makes it seem like an amusing story.
